On April 28, 29, and 30, 2017, OhioDance, the state-wide dance network organization, will co-sponsor its regional festival with BalletMet Columbus. There are many classes, workshops, discussions and performances over the three days. The Sessions will be held at the studios and performance space at BalletMet, 322 Mt. Vernon Ave, Columbus, OH. Festival is inherently creative as the brightest talents in dance converge on Columbus to share new ideas and innovations in the field of dance.
I will be offering a class titled: Improvisation with an eye for Composition. We will use improvisational tools to generate and analyze movement -applying compositional elements to create dance “in the moment.” Class will be for ages 13+

Artist Josh Hines and I were invited to do a short week long residency at Purdue University in their Division of Dance. April 1st- April 7th we will be hosting workshops throughout the week in place of students normal classes. We were also invited to participate in the Xperimental concert. A concept first created by Holly Jaycox, designed to push students to think outside of standard proscenium mindset when approaching choreography. Along with performing our own improvised duet, we will be setting work on a group of students based in an improvisation score, but created in the moment in collaboration with those students. We are thrilled for this opportunity and are glad to be making new connections with dancers and non dancers alike. Thank you to Holly Jaycox and faculty for extending the invitation to us.
CMCo invites you to join us for boWiE!
Created in collaboration with Kristina Isabelle and featuring music by David Bowie!
Hope to see you there
Just sharing this incredible article Presence by Janet Adler in Contact Quarterly (2006) It sheds light on her work with Authentic Movement, specifically with Autistic children. She addresses many points on the endless pursuit to connect spirit of mind and spirit of body for greater connection to humanity and being and includes the investigations and thoughts of a few of the great teachers and researchers of Modern Dance as well.
Enjoy some soul food…..

Contact Improvisation is an open-ended exploration of the kinaesthetic possibilities of bodies moving through contact. Sometimes wild and athletic, sometimes quiet and meditative, it is a form open to all bodies and enquiring minds.

On November 2nd, Feverhead hosted the talented, ambient, avant-garde, visual and audio duo, Ariadne. To introduce this evening of duets, though, Josh Ramsey Hines and myself, as well as, Feverhead owner, Nicole Garlando and Mel Mark explored our own duets through movement. Here’s an excerpt of the improvisational duet performed by Josh Ramsey Hines and myself:
